A specially designed adhesive for exterior lettering, perfect for monumental masons looking to gild letters on headstones and memorials, or for other gilding of carved or blasted lettering. Kölner Rapid is a specially developed adhesive designed for gilded chiselled, carved or sand-blasted letters. Typical examples of uses include lettering on monuments, tombstones or household number plates. Using the Kölner Rapid system letters can be gilded quickly and the result is a high-quality, glossy gilding that can last many years outdoors. To use this product first apply it undiluted to the stone in one smooth coat. After approximately 15 minutes of drying (depending on the thickness of the Rapid layer, temperature and humidity) you can either apply a second layer of Rapid, if needed, or you can start gilding. Please ensure the Rapid layer is completely dry before gilding. After the Rapid is dry you have eight hours open time to complete your gilding. This quick drying time combined with generous working times makes this product ideal for carrying out work on site. Also, the finish of the gild on headstones is better than those gilded using traditional oil size and has even better longevity. Kölner Rapid is available in two colours, Clear and Yellow. The Yellow colour makes for a perfect undercoat underneath gold leaf. Please Note:The Kölner Rapid system is only designed for use on lettering, if you wish to gild other surfaces then we recommend the Kölner Instacoll system. When using Kölner Rapid it is important to bear in mind the difference between gilded lettering on standing stones and that on laying stones. On stones that are laying down rainwater can pool in the lettering causing heavier than anticipated weathering, resulting in a shorter lifetime of the finish compared to lettering on standing stones. It is also important to allow a longer drying time for the Kölner Rapid system if used on lettering on laying stones.

Miniatum Ink has been designed as a supplement to Kolner Miniatum. Finest lines can be made with a variety of drawing instruments laid with gold or silver leaf. In combination with Kolner Miniatum, nearly all calligraphy works are possible. The metal shine is a mirror like after burnishing with cotton wool.
